AH&LA Launches Under 30 Gateway Membership

Networking.  Professional Development.  Discounts to Industry Events.  Exclusive Access to the Eyes and Ears of Your Industry Peers and Seasoned Pros Around the Country.  These are just a few of the benefits the AH&LA Gateway offers as the first ever national industry resource exclusively designed for hospitality professionals under age 30.

Any employee of an AH&LA member organization under age 30 can join the Gateway free of charge.  Visit the AH&LA Gateway Website for more details on the benefits the Gateway will offer, ways you can get involved, and a downloadable registration form.
It all starts with you. 

Sign up and join fellow colleague, Lucy Subhasiriwatana, Marketing Manager for FHG who sits on the Under 30 Gateway Council for the AH&LA. Lucy has found this opportunity very beneficial in advancing her knowledge of key hotel issues through Under 30 communications, networking with peers from management companies and hotels nationwide, and of course having fun!

1st Quarter FHG Superbowl Winner- PPW
First News
For the 1st Quarter we had a tie for the Superbol Award.  Homewood Suites in Chicago, IL and the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center in Pleasant Prairie, WI. Both properties had the highest GOP and GSS (Guest Service Scores).  For the first half of the quarter Homewood had the honor of keeping the trophy.  On June 18, 2008 the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center held a luncheon for the presentation of the trophy.

Team Building at CTD

The team at the Hampton Majestic in Chicago, IL had a team builder "cookout".  Andrew Scarlett, General Manager, was the cook!  Just about the entire staff attended.  It is always good to have a joyous time with your fellow peers.

Welcome Back Residence Inn!

The Residence Inn in Maumee, OH Opened up on Wednesday, June 11, 2008.  Valerie Weber, General Manager, her team and opening crew worked very hard to ensure that everything went smooth for the opening, and it did!  Many thanks goes out to all that assisted in this project. 

The 108 guest room hotel is the newest hotel In Maumee, OH.  The extended stay hotel has a community enviornment which allows guests to feel like they are at home.  The Residence Inn has amenitioes such as, an indoor/outdoor fireplace, spacious suites, complimentary breakfast and is located minutes away from the Maumee Bay State Park.

We Get Lots and Lots of Letters!
Dear Bob In every one of our guest rooms in every hotel managed by First Hospitality Group, you’ll find a “Dear Bob” card. These are simple comment cards designed to encourage specific guest feedback. The cards are pre-addressed to Bob, aka Robert Habeeb, President of First Hospitality Group. Bob reads and responds to every card directly, because as the head of our company, he recognizes how important it is to stay in touch with the needs and expectations of our guests.


The “Dear Bob” philosophy of listening doesn’t end with our guests. We also have a “Dear Bob” program for FHG associates. Several times per year, “Dear Bob” cards are attached to the paychecks of every associate, to give those who work in our hotels the same opportunity to share what’s working well, to ask questions or communicate their concerns.
